OLN: A 300 hectares golf course may appear in Kaliningrad region

RUGRAD.EU. Seminar on the prospects of golf in Kaliningrad region was held by the Golf Association of Russia for representatives of the region’s municipalities.

Dmitry Butyrin, representative of the Golf Association of Russia announced that 13 initiative groups have already been studying the issue of creating golf courses in Kaliningrad municipalities. According to Artem Perminov, Head of Kaliningrad branch of the Golf Association, at the moment there are nearly a thousand golf players in the region. In order to obtain qualification they have to travel to Poland or Lithuania. Thirty golf facilities of different types are planned to be constructed in Kaliningrad, including golf complexes, mini-courses, training courses etc.

Representative of Zelenogradsk Municipal Administration, Sergey Koshevoi, told RUGRAD.EU correspondent about a project of construction of a large golf complex currently being implemented in cooperation with an American company. It will cover the area of 300 hectares and will be accompanied by relevant infrastructure (hotels etc.). Mr. Koshevoi refused to specify the location of the complex for fear of provoking a buying-up of lands, as was the case in Maritime Beltway project currently in progress. Read more in Russian…
