RosBusinessConsulting. RBC, 14.11.2008, Nice. A new partnership and cooperation agreement between Russia and the EU should be substantial and rigorous in its structure, Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev stated after the Russia-EU summit closed today. He reiterated that there had been a certain pause in the document's preparation, to which Russia had unwillingly submitted, but was glad to restart the work now. The document will lay down the cooperation framework for years ahead, and Russia would like to finalize it in the foreseeable future, the president stated.

As reported earlier, leaders of the 27 EU nations resolved to suspend negotiations because of the South Ossetia conflict. Back in 2006, Russia had proposed the idea of renewing the cooperation accord with the EU before the previous one expired on December 1, 2007.
