OLN: Experts consider Kaliningrad gaming zone exist in papers only

Based on materials by RUGRAD.EU [1]. According to Konstantin Kopylov, Vice-President of the Association for Gaming Business Development, apart from identifying the location of future gaming zones no work is being implemented by business community and authorities. The situation with the gaming zone in Primorie is even worse – no location is specified in that case. The issue of infrastructure and communications is unresolved. There is some progress in one of the four zones – in Rostov region. However it’ll take a year at least for casinos to be able to start moving there.

As RUGRAD.EU reported earlier, President of the Association for Entertainment Industry Development, Bogdan Golovaha considered 5 thousand people in the Kaliningrad region might loose there jobs from July 1, 2009, as gaming zone infrastructure is not ready and the ban on all gambling activities outside the four gaming zones would take force. Mr. Golovaha also said that apart from job losses the regional budget would lose some 200 mn roubles in revenues coming from gambling industry. Read more in Russian… [2]
