www.investinkaliningrad.ru [1]. A working group has been set up in the Regional Government on the commission from the Governor Georgy Boos to prepare and hold the Forum of partner-regions planned for 1-2 October 2009. At the moment the work coordinated by the Department of International Relations is focused on organizational issues.

Forum-2009 is the second one to be held in the region. When opening the first forum in October last year the Governor Georgy Boos proposed to make that kind of meetings a regular event since wide-range cooperation is one of the most important factors of any region’s successful development. “The world of individuals has become a memory of the past”, Georgy Boos said then. “A region will only be competitive and intensively developing, if it can provide for comprehensive cooperation”.

This autumn we expect over 200 participants. Russia will be represented by federal ministries and departments, Kaliningrad regional authorities, as well as diplomatic bodies. Foreign participants will come from Poland, Lithuania, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Ukraine, Belarus, the Netherlands and Ireland. The main topic of the forum is “Neighbouring regions: competition or resource?”. A separate part of the programme will be an international youth conference “Perspectives of youth entrepreneurship and tourism development in the countries of the Baltic Sea Region”.
