www.investinkaliningrad.ru. On October 20 a new international automobile checkpoint Chernyshevskaya was officially opened at the border between Kaliningrad and Lithuania. The ceremony was attended by: Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for State Border Maintenance (Rosgranitsa) Vladimir Goncharov, the delegation of the Republic of Lithuania headed by the Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region, Vaclav Stankevich, the EU Commission delegation led by head of the EEU-Russia cooperation progamme Etienne Claye, heads of state control bodies, the head of the North-West Customs Administration of the FCS of Russia Mikhail Prokofiev. As he said in his welcoming remarks, Vladimir Goncharov, opening of the new crossing points built with the latest technology is another step in expanding the mutually beneficial economic relations between Russia, Lithuania and other European Union countries. Addressing those attending, Etienne Claye mentioned this facility was built thanks to the financial and institutional cooperation between the EU and Russia. Chernyshevskaya checkpoint is designed to pass 1,500 vehicles per day (300 trucks; 1150 passenger vehicles; 50 buses) and up to 4000 individuals. The total cost of the project is 442 million rubles, of which 132 million rubles have been allocated by the European Commission. printer friendly version | 1618 reads
