Industrial production index in January-April 2010 in the Kaliningrad region reached 140.1%

Industrial production index in January-April 2010 in the Kaliningrad region was 140.1% as compared to the same period last year. Manufacturing industry index in January-April is registered at the level of 158.5%.

This significant growth is largely due to the increase in the use of Avtotor production capacity (the growth rate under "Production of vehicles and equipment" heading is 110%) and "Telebalt" (production of electrical, electronic and optical equipment has grown by 100%). The positive dynamics has also been affected by the launch of a compound fertilizers production plant in Chernyakhovsk ("ARVI NPK"). In comparison with last year in the first 4 months of 2010 the total volume of chemical production in the Kaliningrad region has increased 5.1 times.

Timber handlers remain the only ones who show a negative trend in manufacturing. The decrease of production there is 23%.

In addition, in the first 4 months of 2010 a growth in production of construction materials in the Kaliningrad region was registered (18.3%).
