Russia has offered Poland to take part in the construction of the Baltic nuclear power plant in the Kaliningrad region (BNPP). According to RIA Novosti, this was announced on Friday, May 21 by the Minister of Infrastructure of Poland Cezary Grabarczyk after the third meeting of the Russian-Polish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
"The Russian side suggested Poland to take part in the construction of the Baltic nuclear power plant and then, sharing the power transmission capacity of the Polish side sell electricity in Europe", - said Grabarczyk.
The official representative of the Directorate of the Baltic NPP reported that Polish companies are interesting as co-investors not only in the construction, but also in the network infrastructure for the delivery of the nuclear power plant capacity to consumers. According to him, offers to participate in the BNPP were sent to all countries neighbouring the Kaliningrad region, as well as energy and network companies in neighboring regions. He also pointed out that negotiations with potential investors are being continued.
Earlier, Russia offered private (including foreign) investors participation in the operation of the plant and long-term contracts for the supply of electricity. In addition, in April this year, after the negotiations of prime ministers of Russia and Italy a memorandum on the possible accession of Italy to the project of BNPP construction was signed.
